The Senate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced plans to shut down the university until further notice.

Students have been ordered to vacate their hostel over fears that the third wave of COVID-19 is set to sweep through Lagos state.
According to the Punch, the school held an emergency meeting on Wednesday after monitoring the COVID situation in the school.

One of the school’s academic staff revealed that students had even begun to exit hostels before the decision was announced.
Reports state that some cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the school which affected students and workers.
It will be remembered that Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had urged Lagosians to maintain social distancing to prevent a third wave of COVID-19.

UNILAG students are expected to continue lectures online from July 26, 2021.
