U.S COVID 19 Death Hits 1 Million, Becomes World Highest

• The COVID 19 Death toll of the United States has reached one million.

• Currently, the U.S. has the highest recorded COVID death toll globally.

• About 360 people have been dying every day from the virus.

On Wednesday, NBC News announced that about 1 million Covid 19 deaths have been recorded in the United States since the start of the pandemic.

This alarming death toll, similar to San Jose, California’s population, was attained only 27 months after the country confirmed its first COVID  case.

For a while now, deaths from COVID 19 have been on the decline. However, the U.S has still managed to record about 360 daily fatalities. 

The casualties caused by the virus exceeded people’s expectations during the early weeks of the pandemic. It is believed that the virus was underestimated by then U.S. President, Donald Trump.

During a rally on February 28, 2020, in North Charleston, South California, Donald Trump stated that the COVID 19 was a hoax, and no life had been lost to the virus. 

Between 2020 and 2022, about 1 million mortalities have been recorded. Based on this data, the U.S has the highest Covid-19 death toll in the world.

The U.S holds a significant margin over Brazil which follows with about 660,000 COVID 19  deaths in total.

According to the CDC, 80% of America’s COVID  deaths occurred between April and December 2021 among many who refused to get vaccinated.

In February 2021, the CDC data revealed that the death risk from COVID was about 20 times higher for unvaccinated people than for people who were vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the Executive director of the Havey Institute for Global Health at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Robert Murphy, stated that lots of people had great hope for the U.S., expecting America to lead control of the virus. 

He said that the institution was excited about the vaccine development, and they thought that people would be eager to receive it but unfortunately many refused to get vaccinated.
