640,454 Receive First Shot of Moderna Vaccine as Others Receive AstraZeneca 2nd Dose

  • The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has announced that 640,454 people have received the first shot of the Moderna vaccine
  • The agency also disclosed that 56,582 Nigerians have received the second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine
  • The latest update means that 32% and 8.1% of the allocated Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccine have been used

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has given an update about phase 2 of vaccination in Nigeria.

Moderna vaccine

According to the latest update, 640,454 Nigerians have received the first dose of the Moderna vaccine across the 36 States and FCT as of Thursday, September 2nd.

NPHCDA also disclosed that 56,582 people have come forward to receive the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

This report now means that Nigeria has used 32% of the allocated Moderna vaccine and 8.1% of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Lagos leads in vaccination, with 108,429 Lagosians vaccinated already followed by Oyo state with 47,424 as of Thursday.

Kogi state remains the only state that is yet to deliver a single shot of the Moderna vaccine.

Lagos also lead others in administering the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine as 11,119 have received the second shot.

AstraZeneca vaccine

Bauchi, Borno, Kogi, Yobe and Zamafara are yet to administer a single shot for the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
