911,248 Nigerians Receive Moderna COVID 19 Vaccine as Battle Intensifies Against Pandemic

  • The agency also disclosed that 123,500 Nigerians have received the second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has given an update about phase 2 of vaccination in Nigeria.

Moderna COVID 19 vaccine

According to the latest update, 911,248 Nigerians have received the first dose of the Moderna COVID 19 vaccine across the 36 States and FCT as of Monday, September 6th.

NPHCDA also disclosed that 123,500 people have come forward to receive the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

This report now means that Nigeria has used 45.5% of the allocated Moderna COVID 19 vaccine and 17.6% of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Lagos leads in vaccination, with 137,862 Lagosians vaccinated already followed by Oyo state with 62,662 as of Monday.

“911,258 eligible Nigerians have been vaccinated with the first dose of Moderna vaccine while 123,500 eligible Nigerians vaccinated with 1st dose have collected their 2nd dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine,” the report stated.”

Kogi state remains the only state that is yet to deliver a single shot of the Moderna vaccine.

Lagos also lead others in administering the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine as 18,348 have received the second shot.

Zamafara is the only state that is yet to administer a single shot for the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Nigeria’s battle against the third wave of the pandemic has been boosted by the supply of vaccines from the United States through the COVAX facility.
