Nigeria commenced vaccination on March 5th, and as of April 5th, 963,802 people had received the first dose of the vaccine
Nigerian received 100,000 doses of the Covishield COVID vaccine from India on Tuesday according to the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha.

This brings the total doses of vaccine received by the country to 4.32 million.
Vaccination began in Nigeria on March 5 after 3.94 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines were received through the COVAX initiative.
The vaccine was majorly administered to health workers to limit the spread of the virus.
Nigeria also received 300,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from MTN.
The vaccine has been distributed to 36 states of the federation and FCT and vaccination has begun in all except Kogi.

The COVISHIELD is a brand of the AstraZeneca vaccine that is manufactured in India. It is currently being used in 71 countries.
