Japan Suspends Use of 1.63 Million Doses of Moderna Vaccine After Discovering Contamination

Japan has suspended the use of the Moderna vaccine after health officials discovered that some vaccines were contaminated.

Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, the company in charge of the distribution of the vaccine in Japan confirmed the report on Thursday.

The film confirmed that the use of the vaccine in the country had been suspended after consultation with the health ministry.

Although the exact type of contamination is not known, there have been no reports of health concerns from those who received the vaccines.

The health ministry confirmed that so far, contaminants were found in 39 vials across 8 locations in the country.

The contaminants were found in only one of 3 batches of the vaccine but the country took precautions by suspending the other two.

A spokesperson for the government Katsunobu Kato confirmed the incident;

“We have not received reports of health problems stemming from the foreign object,” he told reporters. “But we are asking people to consult their physicians if they experience any abnormality.”

Moderna vaccine

Almost 43 per cent of Japan’s population have been vaccinated but the country battles against another wave of the virus driven by delta variant.
