Just a month after being selected as Africa’s Twitter headquarters, Ghana has another big win to celebrate.
According to a statement that was released by Ghana’s presidential palace, the country has been selected as the manufacturing hub for COVID vaccines in Africa.
This initiative was disclosed during a meeting between the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo and the Vice president of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis.

Taskforce teams of both Ghana and the European Union will now meet up to discuss ways to actualize the initiative.
Ghana was the first country to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from the COVAX facility in March.
The country has already inoculated 900,000 people since the start of vaccination, and a total of 20 million people are expected to be inoculated by the year’s end.
