In the past few weeks, Nigeria has enjoyed a significant reduction in the number of fresh infections and fatalities from the coronavirus pandemic. But this glorious run has come to an abrupt end as the country recorded 118 new COVID 19 cases on Tuesday.
This comes just a day after the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced two new cases, the country’s lowest daily figure since the pandemic started in 2020.
The latest report indicates that the Nigerians returning from Ukraine contributed to a rise in the daily infection as 60 returnees tested positive.
It will be recalled that the Federal government announced the arrival of 772 evacuees from neighboring countries to Ukraine after the country was attacked by Russia.
The disease center also reported 49 backlog cases in Lagos which happens to be the epicenter of the disease in Nigeria.
