Reports reveal that thousands of people die from the disease daily as billion of people remain unvaccinated
Global COVID 19 deaths have hit 6 million, only two years after the novel pathogen began spreading across the world.
Records however show that the last 1 million deaths have come more slowly than previous intervals.
According to a John Hopkins report, it took about 125 days to go from 5 million deaths to 6 million, compared to 117 days taken to hit the 5-million mark from 4 million.
The recent death rate is similar to what was experienced during the emergence of the pandemic in the first year.
Despite the recent success against the disease, Covid continues to kill thousands of people every day.
This is as billions of people remain unvaccinated either due to unwillingness to receive or inaccessibility of the vaccine.
The United States contributed most to the last 1 million deaths, with more than 16% of the fatality. Brazil had 11% of the total, while India was responsible for 9%.
