COVID 19 Vaccine: Nigeria Reaches 17.5 Million Vaccination Milestone

Over 17.5 million Nigerians have received at least one dose of the COVID 19 vaccine, according to a report released by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

The agency confirmed that this figure is accurate as of 14th January 2022, based on statistics in various states.

The report revealed that 12,559,347 of the total eligible persons targeted for vaccination had been jabbed with the first dose while 4,967,233 had received the second dose.

In total 17,526,580 people have been vaccinated with at least one dose of any of the available vaccines.

In addition to that, 260,431 eligible people had been jabbed with the Pfizer COVID-19 booster dose, while 12,963 have received their Moderna booster doses.

This comes a month after the federal government announced that health centers will begin to administer booster shots of the COVID 19 vaccine to provide extra protection.

Only eligible Nigerians who are over 18 and have received a second dose of AstraZeneca, Pfizer Bio-N-Tech, or Moderna at least 6 months ago can receive the boosters.
