
COVID 19: Lagos Administers 2.2 Million Doses of Vaccine

The Lagos state government has disclosed that 2,195,779 doses of COVID 19 have been administered in the state as of January 12, 2022.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi announced this while giving a vaccine update via his official Twitter account.
In this update, the commissioner stated that 1,026,144 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were administered as the first dose, while 569,920 of the vaccine were administered as the second dose.
He added that 335,404 Moderna vaccines were administered as the first dose while 249,699 shots of the jab had been administered as the second.
Finally, for the Pfizer vaccine, 5,664 doses were offered as the first shot while 8,948 were administered as the second dose.
As a booster, the state had also administered 25,145 Pfizer doses and 388 doses of the Moderna vaccine.

Abayomi noted that 3.42% of the targeted population had received their COVID 19 vaccine shot but 13,895,199 doses of vaccine still needed to be administered to achieve the target for herd immunity.
Abayomi urged everyone to come and get vaccinated, stating that the vaccines are safe and effective against COVID infection.
