FC Barcelona Reveals Promising Plans for Crypto and NFT

Barcelona has been faced with a lot of financial problems recently, but the club has developed a plan to escape this financial turmoil- cryptocurrency. The president of the club, Joan Laporta has disclosed that the club intends to create its own cryptocurrency to “survive financially”.

While speaking at the Mobile World Congress earlier this week, Laporta disclosed that the Catalan football giant is working on entering the cryptocurrency market. He also confirmed that the club is set to launch a range of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

So far, Barcelona has turned down several partnership offers from cryptocurrency companies because the club would prefer to develop in-house crypto.

Laporta narrated that since the club survives financially on income, it needs to be innovative and imaginative in creating sources of income.

He added that the club hopes to release its first range of NFTs soon and it has been incorporated into a project that will help its finances.

This comes a few months after FC Barcelona canceled a contract with Ownix, an NFT token marketplace, in the same month that the contract was signed.
