Moscow continues to focus its attack on Ukraine in a bid to take control of the capital city Kyiv from the government
As the invasion of Ukraine goes into day 3, Russia has blocked Twitter and threatened to also ban Facebook over clash “censorship”.
This comes after telecom regulator Roskomnadzor accused Facebook of violating the right and breaching the freedom of Russian citizens.
Internet connectivity monitoring company NetBlocks has reported that there is a total almost total restriction on microblogging platform Twitter.
This comes after many videos of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine were being circulated on social media.
According to NetBlocks, Facebook and its sister platform Instagram are running normally, but the connection to Twitter has been restricted.

Those in Russia can however circumvent this restriction by using VPN services to access the microblogging platform from another IP address.
The country goes ahead to restrict Facebook as well, it is not clear if the restriction will affect other platforms owned by Meta such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram.
