Ukraine Invasion: 137 People Killed and 316 Injured in Russia Attack

The death toll in Ukraine has continued to rise following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Thursday. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky has disclosed that 137 civilians and military personnel have been killed in the country on the first day of the Ukraine Invasion.

In a video that was addressed to the country on Friday, he called them “heroes”, while divulging that another 316 people have been injured in various attacks. While referring to the Russian forces he said: “They’re killing people and turning peaceful cities into military targets. It’s foul and will never be forgiven.”

The fear of Moscow has also caused other states to be afraid of supporting Ukraine’s accession to NATO, according to Zelensky. The blasts in Kyiv which continued into the second day of the Ukraine-Russia conflict have already caused more than 100,000 people to be displaced.

The president’s announcement follows a declaration by the country’s Interior Ministry of Defense that Ukrainian men aged 13 to 60 have been barred from leaving the country. It follows the government’s decision to give firearms to any citizen that wants to fight the Russian troops against the Ukraine invasion.
