Finally Nigeria Secures First Olympic Medal With Extraordinary Win For Blessing Oborududu

After a difficult week at the Olympics where several athletes were either disqualified or eliminated, there is finally a reason to celebrate.

Blessing Oborududu

Nigeria’s representative Blessing Oborududu has secured a spot in the women’s wrestling event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Her qualification now means that Nigeria is guaranteed to receive a Silver Olympic medal if she losses and a Gold medal if she wins.

Oborududu won the semi-finals matchup against Battsetseg Soronzobold who was representing Mongolia.

The strong female wrestler will now face American Tamyra Mensah-Stock in the final on Tuesday.

On her way to the final, Blessing Oburududu also defeated Elis Manolova and Meerim Zhumanazarova.

Meanwhile, Odunayo Adekuoroye, Grace Nwokocha and Ese Brume have the chance to pick up medals in wrestling, athletics, and Long jump in the coming weeks.
