Twitter Edit Button Finally Announced But Don’t Celebrate Yet

Ask Twitter users for a feature that they cannot wait to see on the social media platform and you’ll get the “Edit button” as an answer from most.
The social media giant apparently knows this and that’s why it announced that the Twitter edit button was set to launch on Friday. As expected, the news got everyone excited but there’s only one problem- The tweet was made on April 1 (April Fools Day).

When a user asked if the edit button tweet was a joke, the company released a statement saying the following:
“We cannot confirm or deny but we may edit our statement later.”
While some commentators found the tweet to be funny, others weren’t happy with being pranked by Twitter.
The verified account of Dictionary.com tweeted a link to the Definition of unfunny, insinuating that the joke was not funny.

Despite strong calls for a Twitter edit button from users over the years, the company has failed to grant this request for undisclosed reasons. It has instead invested in the launch of other features such as Twitter spaces and fleets, although the latter has been taken down now.
The closest that Twitter has come to delivering the edit button is launching the “Undo” tweet button for Premium Twitter Blue users. With the “Undo” tweet button, you can set a customizable timer of up to 30 seconds to click Undo before a tweet goes live.
