TikTok has overtaken Google as the world’s most visited website, according to data from IT security company Cloudfare.
Cloudfare reports that the trendy social media platform knocked Google off the top spot in February, March, and June this year, and has held the number one position since August.
In 2020, Google held the top spot while websites such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Netflix, and TikTok also made the top 10.
Cloudfare disclosed that the data wa tracked using Cloudflare Radar, a tool that monitors web traffic.
Data company Sensor Tower reported in July this year that the popular video-sharing platform had been downloaded more than three billion times in 2021.

The company now has more than one billion active users as more people continue to join the social media frenzy.
In China, TikTok functions as an app called Douyin and runs on a different network to comply with the country’s censorship rules.
