TikTok Breaks New Record, Surpasses Facebook

Video-sharing platform TikTok was the worlds of the most downloaded app in 2020, surpassing social media giant Facebook according to a survey by digital analytics company App Annie.

The Chinese social media platform is the only app not owned by Facebook that made the top 5 list in global downloads of 2020.

The top 5 of the list was completed by Facebook social app, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger.

Mark Zuckerberg’s has held the top spot in global apps download since the survey was introduced in 2018.

TikTok has continued to blossom despite an orded by former US President Donald Trump to ban new downloads of the app in the US.

Trump claimed that the app was a threat to US national security because Chinese government could have access to user data. ByteDance the parent company of TikTok however denied these claims.
