This New WhatsApp Feature is Getting Everyone Excited

  • WhatsApp is set to roll out an update that allows users to send videos and photos that will disappear after the viewer has seen them once
  • The social media company stated that the latest feature is aimed at giving users more control over their privacy
  • The feature which is already on other platforms like Snapchat will be released starting from this week

Social media platform WhatsApp is set to launch an update that will promote privacy among users.

The new feature termed “view once” will allow users to send videos and photos that will automatically be deleted after the receiver has viewed them once.

The “view once” feature will only be available on the latest version of WhatsApp on iOS and Android.

Once it is launched later this week, users will be able to access this feature by tapping an icon in the text bar before sending the media.

Despite the innovation, the social media company has advised users to only send media to users that they trust as people can still screenshot or screen record a media before it disappears.

“While taking photos or videos on our phones has become such a big part of our lives, not everything we share needs to become a permanent digital record,”

“On many phones, simply taking a photo means it will take up space in your camera roll forever.”

The “one view” update is a copy of a similar feature that exists on Snapchat and it will be the second feature to be copied after the status update feature.
