The world’s largest marketplace for Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs), OpenSea was reportedly hacked on Monday as cybercriminals got away with 332 Ethereum.
At the exchange rate of $2,350, this morning, this means that more than $780,000 was stolen from the NFT marketplace in the hack.
Blockchain security company Peck Shield, confirmed the hack in a tweet that was made on Monday morning.
The tweet reads:
“It appears that Opensea has a front-end issue and the exploiter gained about 332 Ether.”
The tweet was also presented with an image of the Ether Scan transaction ID for the hack. Following the first update that was given about 3 hours before this post, Peck Shield did not provide further information about the hack.

OpenSea is one of the company’s to have benefited most from the recent NFT craze that has rocked the world. Data from DappRadar, a company that tracks NFT transactions indicates that NFT exchanges worth over $22 billion were carried out in 2021, up from $100 million the previous year.
