Bored Ape: Neymar Becomes the Latest Star to Invest in Viral NFT

Brazilian football star Neymar has acquired two Bored Ape Yacht (BAYC) NFTs
The soccer star joins a list of celebrities such as Eminem, Paul Pogba, and DJ Khaled in acquiring NFTs
The transaction history on OpenSea shows that the PSG forward paid almost $1 million for both NFTs

The nonfungible token (NFT) space is one of the fastest-growing in the blockchain space, with a trading volume rise of over 40,000% in 2021.

The past few months have seen a lot of celebrities join the NFT trend, the latest being footballer Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior.

The Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star booked his place as an NFT investor by acquiring two Bored Ape Yacht (BAYC) NFTs.

Neymar confirmed the acquisition via his official Twitter account, with a picture of one of the NFTs and the caption- “I am an Ape”.

According to the transaction history which can be seen on OpenSea, the first NFT Bored Ape 6633 was acquired for 159.99 ETH, more than $480,000.

The second one Ape 5269 was acquired for more than 189.69 ETH, more than $500k at the time of purchase.

Asides from his tweet, Neymar displayed his price digital possession by making it his profile picture on Twitter.

The past few months have seen numerous celebrities enter the NFT space.

Some of the most recent investments in the digital tokens by celebrities have been made by Eminem, DJ Khaled, and Martin Garrix.
