In a statement by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Buhari expressed sadness over the killing and terned it as insane.

“I condemn the killing of our hardworking farmers by terrorists in Borno State. The entire country is hurt by these senseless killings. My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief. May their souls Rest In Peace.”

The statement added that President Buhari had given all the requisite support to the armed forces to take all necessary measures to protect the country’s population and its territory.

The victims were labourers from Sokoto State who had travelled to Maiduguri to find work. They were reportedly tied up and their throats slitted.
