The federal government has opened up about the suspension that was placed on social networking platform Twitter.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed stated that Twitter has met 10 out of the 12 conditions set by the government.
The minister however disclosed that it was only a matter of time before the issue between both parties is resolved.
Lai Mohammed made the disclosure while answering questions at Nigeria International Partnership Forum in Paris.
Mr. Mohammed also claimed that the Twitter suspension had nothing to do with President Muhammadu Buhari’s deleted tweets.
His statement can be seen below:
”I want to categorically say that Twitter was not banned by Nigera, it was only suspended. So, Twitter was never banned, it was suspended.
”Also, the suspension has nothing to do with President Muhammadu Buhari.
One of the biggest surprises in the Q and A session about Twitter suspension was the minister speaking French language fluently as he answered most questions in the foreign language.
It’s been 5 months since social media platform Twitter was banned in Nigeria. Since then, people in the country have been forced to use VPN in accessing the platform.
