This information was disclosed by the Director-General of LCCI, Dr. Chinyere Almona in a statement on Friday.

The LCCI also urged the FG to create an enabling regulatory environment that supports global tech companies in the country.

Discussing the lifting of the ban, Almona commended the government saying:

“The Federal Government’s press statement conveying the lifting of the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria is well received and commendable.”

She disclosed that the cost of the seven-month shutdown of Twitter operations was estimated using Netblock’s Cost of Shutdown Tool.

Almona also revealed that digital platforms had become a vital tool for businesses in Nigeria by boosting digital transactions.

President Muhammadu Buhari announced the lifting of the Twitter ban earlier this week, disclosing that a resolution had been reached with the microblogging platform.
