The Christmas and New Year festivities are now over and it’s back to work for everybody.

According to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, the New year holiday ends on Monday, and workers are expected to resume on Tuesday, January 4th.

Despite already enjoying some quality time during the holiday, you may be curious about the next time that you may be able to catch a break, in the form of a holiday.

In this article, we will be disclosing all the public holidays in Nigeria for 2022 and there are up to 21 on this calendar year.

Public Holidays in Nigeria 2022

  • 3rd January – Monday- New Year Day Holiday
    Monday, January 3rd marks the first public holiday in 2022. This is because New Year’s day falls on a Saturday.
  • 15th April – Friday – Good Friday

Good Friday is a Christian holiday in commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

  • 18th April – Monday – Easter Monday
    Celebrate the rise of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion.
  • 2nd May – Monday – Labour Day Holiday
    This is because Labour Day (May 1) falls on a Sunday.
  • 3rd and 4th May – Tuesday – Eid-el Fitri
    Religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
  • 27th May – Friday – Children Day (Public Holiday for Schools and Children only)
  • 13th June – Monday – Democracy Day Holiday
    This is because Democracy Day June 12 falls on a Sunday
  • 10th and 11th July – Sunday – Eid-el Kabir
    Global holiday for Muslims
  • 12th July – Tuesday – Id el Kabir Holiday
    This is because Id el Kabir is likely to fall on a Sunday, according to the Lunar calendar.
  • 3rd October – Monday – Independence Day Holiday
    This is because Independence Day (October 1st) falls on a Saturday.
  • 10th October – Monday – Eid-el Maulud Holiday
    This is because Eid-el Maulud falls on a Saturday.
  • 27th December – Tuesday – Christmas Day Holiday

This is because Christmas day falls on a Sunday and Boxing Day falls on a Monday.
