Two officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) are feared to have died in an aircraft crash that happened in Kaduna state on Tuesday. At the time of the report, the cause of the plane crash remains unknown.
According to multiple media reports, the trainer aircraft, an MFI-395 Super Mushshak had two pilots on board when the accident occurred.
The Nigerian Air Force is yet to release a statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the plane crash in Kaduna.
This development is coming less than a year after another NAF aircraft crashed in the same state. The accident which happened in May 2021 involved a Beechcraft 350 and resulted in the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru. 10 other military personnel who were also on board died.
Late Attahiru was on his way to Kaduna to attend a passing-out parade for other Army recruits.
Yesterday’s incident makes it the 4th time that a Nigerian Air Force Aircraft has crashed since the start of 2021. Before the plane crash in May last year, a Beechcraft KingAir B350i crashed in Abuja, killing 7 officers in February 2021. Also, an Alpha-Jet plane that was involved in a war against Boko Haram lost radar in Borno in March last year.
