AMC Theaters Integrates Crypto Payments With Dogecoin and Shiba Inu Options

Lovers of meme cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu can now use the tokens to purchase movie tickets at AMC. This comes after USA’s largest movie theater chain disclosed that the meme tokens and other cryptocurrencies will be accepted on its mobile app.
The CEO of AMC Theaters, Adam Aron announced on Friday that users can now update to the latest version of the AMC app to access the cryptocurrency payment option. He also revealed that the crypto payment plan will be extended to other cryptocurrencies but failed to disclose the names of the crypto tokens.

At the moment, AMC’s cryptocurrency payment option is only available for customers in the United States.

Dogecoin was already being accepted by AMC Theaters for payment but this option was only available through digital gift cards and it had a limit of $200.
The company first began accepting crypto payments in November 2021, allowing customers to purchase tickets using Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin. Aron reports that cryptocurrency accounts for 14% of the total online transactions on AMC’s platform.
To make crypto payments on the app, users will only need to connect their wallets or collect an address where the cryptocurrency can be sent.
