NLC Declares Strike In 18 States Over Failure To Pay Minimum Wage

-The NLC has directed its workers in 18 states of the country to go on strike

-The reason for the strike is the failure of these states to pay the minimum wage of N30,000

-States that have not paid the minimum wage include Imo, Rivers, Osun, and 15 others

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has directed workers in 18 states where the minimum wage a yet to be paid to go on strike.

Congress revealed that half the states were yet to conclude payments on the N30,000 minimum wage.

In other news: Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced that it has no immediate plans to increase fuel price

Some of the states that have failed in this aspect include Imo, Osun, Ogun, Kwara, Ebonyi, Rivers, and Gombe state.

NLC President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba states that the congress sees the failure of these states to pay the new national minimum wage as an act of criminality.

The NEC has ordered all defaulting states to proceed with payment.

The Labour Congress also urged the government to reduce the cost of gas sold to electricity generating companies so as to drive down electricity tariffs.

NLC also urged the government to do more in securing the life and property of people around the country.
