Ukraine Conflict: Nigerian Evacuation Flights Resume as 1076 are Transported

  • The federal government has announced the resumption of the evacuation of Nigerians in Ukraine from Friday, March 11
  • Today, 122 people will be transported from Warsaw, Poland back to the country
  • So far, 1076 people have been brought back into the country through Nigerian evacuation flights organised by the government

The Nigerian Government has announced that the evacuations flights transporting stranded Nigerians in Ukraine will resume today. The evacuation continues with a flight of 122 persons that are being transported from Warsaw, Poland.

Nigerian evacuation

Details about the Nigerian evacuation flights were disclosed in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday evening. The ministry also disclosed that so far 1076 Nigerians have been evacuated from various countries in Eastern Europe.

According to the ministry’s statement, the latest flight from Poland will arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport on Friday, 11th March 2022 at an estimated time of 12:40 am. The evacuees will be transported aboard an Air Peace plane.

The statement says:

“A third evacuation flight will depart at 8:00 am from Budapest, Hungary, to Abuja on Saturday 12th March. Interested Nigerians fleeing Ukraine should contact the Nigerian embassy Budapest, Hungary,”

Of the total 1076 evacuees, 416 persons were transported from Bucharest on the 4th of March, and 181 persons from Poland on the same day. 176 persons were evacuated from Budapest, Hungary on an Air Peace flight on the 4th of March, while 206 persons were transported from the same location a day after.
