The Nigerian police have defended their method of dispersing protesters during the June 12 protest yesterday.
There was video evidence of protesters being fired with tear gas canisters and the police claim that there is nothing wrong with that.
According to a disclosure by the Public Relations Officer of the police Mr Frank Mba, the use of teargas was a globally accepted method of protesters dispersal.
Mr Mba stated that protesters who don’t constitute themselves and obstruct the right of other citizens will be fired.
He also claimed that the use of teargas during the June 12 protest was an isolated incident that happened in Abuja.

Despite Mr Mba’s claims, there were reports of protesters being fired at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota Lagos.
The protesters were also reported to have been nonviolent during their demands of a better country.
