Two months after the incident, Federal Government has revealed that the ban on social media platform Twitter could be lifted soon.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed disclosed this while answering questions from the press at State House on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Mohammed revealed that an agreement has been reached between both parties in most areas of their differences.
He stated that some conditions were given to the microblogging platform and most of them have been accepted.
One of the conditions that the FG demands from Twitter is that an office must be set up in Nigeria with Twitter staff management as the country’s spokesperson.
Lai Mohammed claims that even though Twitter agreed to set up an office in Nigeria, the company claimed that the earliest that can be achieved is 2022.
Mr Mohammed promised that everything will be resolved in a matter of “days or weeks” and the Twitter ban will be lifted.
It will be recalled that the Federal Government issued a ban on the microblogging platform on June 5 after president Buhari’s tweet was removed.
