COVID-19: FG To Spend $578million To Vaccinate 50% Of Nigerians

The Nigerian government plans to spend $578 million to purchase COVID-19 vaccine

50 per cent of Nigerians will receive the vaccine as the government is motivated to immunize Nigerians with low risk to the virus

It could be recalled that Global Alliance For Vaccine and Immunization will also provide free COVID-19 vaccine to 20 per cent of each country.

The Federal government of Nigeria may be budgeting around $576 million to secure COVID-19 vaccine o immunize 50 per cent of the Nigerian population.

Dr. Faisal Shuaib, Development Agency (NPHDA) of National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA) made this disclosure over he weekend.

According to him, Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunisation (GAVI) would also be giving out free vaccine to  91 other countries to vaccinate 20 per vent of the populace that needs it.

It was reported that the first batch of 100,000 Pfizer vaccine doses from the will arrive in the Nigeria at the end of this January or early February.

In a bid to meet up with the percentage, which is 50 per vent of the total population,  the government will need to pay $8 for two doses to secure the vaccine for 72.1million.people. Nigeria’s currently population stand AY 201 million according to the United Nation.
