COVID-19: Fayemi Imposes Curfew, Bans Public Gathering In Ekiti State

Kayode Fayemi has imposed a statewide curfew as well as a ban in public gathering due to COVID-19 in Ekiti State

In a reaction to the second wave of the pandemic, the Ekiti State Government disclosed the new guideline would remain till further notice

Hon Akinbowale Omole, the Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation made the announcement on Saturday January 9.

 

The Ekiti State Government has announced the imposition of a curfew from 8.00 pm to 6.00am across the state.

The government also placed a banned on all public gatherings of more than 20 people in the state until further notice. These restrictions according to the government would take effect from 5am of Monday, January 11, 2021.

Speaking on behalf of the Gov Kayode Fayemi, Hon Akinbowale Omole, the Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, announced these new guidelines in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, making reference the rapid spread of the second wave of COVID-19.

He said there was need for the government to be proactive and take decisive steps to secure the citizens from falling prey to the second wave of the pandemic that has claimed thousands of lives all over the world recently.

He urged the residents of the state to continue to respect COVID-19 guidelines  while also abiding by the curfew and protocol by the state government.
