COVID 19: Dubai Travelers’ Nightmares End as UAE Lifts Ban on Nigeria

  • The United Arab Emirates, UAE has announced that a ban on transit flights from Nigeria, Pakistan and India will be lifted on Thursday
  • According to an update by National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) on Twitter, travelers from countries where transit was previously banned will be received upon provision of a negative PCR COVID-19 test
  • UAE had issued a ban on several countries to limit the entry of people with COVID 19 into the country

The news that Dubai travellers have been waiting for is finally here.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the removal of a travel restriction that was placed on Nigeria, India, and Pakistan.

The National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) made a post on Twitter on Tuesday indicating that passengers will be allowed from the three countries from Thursday 5 August 2021.

NCEMA states that travellers from the three countries will be allowed into UAE if they can provide a negative PCR COVID 19 test taken 72 hours before departure.

The travellers will also require final destination approval and a separate lounge will be arranged for them.

It will be recalled that the UAE issued a ban on several countries Nigeria included, to limit the entry of people with COVID 19.

Dubai transit airline, Emirates have commended the government’s decision to lift the ban and allow passengers to come in from other countries.

Dubai is one of the world’s most famous travel destinations and incoming travels provides the government with funds from tourism.

According to the last report, a total of 685,462 COVID 19 cases have been recorded in UAE, with 1,960 since the start of the pandemic last year.
