Majek Fashek Files N100million Lawsuit Against Timi Dakolo For Copyright Infringement

Another gbege don show for Naija music industry as Majek Fashek files N100million lawsuit against Timi Dakolo for copyright infringement.

Timi Dakolo is being sued for using Majek Fashek’s “Send down the rain” without permission or authorization. Uzoma Day Omenka said they will be dragging Timi to court.

Majek Fashek Files N100million Lawsuit Against Timi Dakolo For Copyright Infringement

Law suits will be filed at the end of March following their return from Uk, except Timi is able to provide proof of authorization by any representative of Majek.

“We are not taking this case lightly. We are just awaiting the arrival of our solicitors from the U.S., and the UK then we will hit the courts. For crying out loud, this guy is making money from itunes and he did what he did because he thinks in Nigeria, anything goes. If he can prove as he claimed that he paid for the use of the song and he can show concrete proof of it then he will go free, but if not, we will definitely meet in court.” Omenka said.

Just last month when the manager visited Vanguard with Majek Fashek, he expressed his anger as saying Timi lacks respect towards the all time music legend.

He went further to say; “Timi remixed the song without the knowledge of Majek Fashek, during that period that I was in the US. When I came back I heard the song on iTunes where people were downloading it and they were making money, I was surprised. As a sign of respect he would have come to meet the legend because the song is not an ordinary song.”

On the other hand, Timi is claiming that he spoke to the manager (I don’t know which one) and made some payments (Haven’t shown proof yet). Omenka is pissed of with this because people started assuming that something fishy went down. This is because he is the only manager people know.

According to Nairaland, Majek Fashek played them down and referred them to his manager saying; “Well, I don’t want to talk about young artistes, he is a kid. Let my manager speak on that.”

In 2016, Timi reacted to the accusation on his IG handle as thus;

“My people, it saddens me to see such. I always try to do things rightly and lawfully. I paid his manager to remake the song, I got my invoice, I even mentioned to him during our rehearsals at the Headies. So, honestly I don’t understand this write-up.”

Please Timi, if you have evidence bring it out already so we can stop this whole wahala. I hope this is not a way of some hype. Everything is possible with Naija artiste.
