COULD OLAMIDE BE SERIOUS?
The popular Nigerian Rapper Olamide, who recently released his 6th studio album titled “THE GLORY” On the intro of the track titled ‘Letter To Milli’, revealed that he sold his soul to dine with the devil .
LYRICS:
Olamide said:
“…In every level, there is a different devil
I sold my soul to the game
Just to dine with the devil.”
It leaves one to wonder if Olamide does mean it. Was it just to spur controversy enough to keep him on the lips on Nigerians?
REVIEW:
That wasnt the only outstanding thing about Olamide’s music but the fact that his Yoruba accent often time got in the way of things at the moment when you are feeling the vibes. I am talking about the ‘H’ factor.
CANDID ADVICE:
My candid advice would be that he could do a retake and make corrections on his pronunciations. Now, it brings me to think that “who u epp” song was just how he would naturally pronounce the word “help” as ‘epp.’ I am sure all along fans thought it was a joke. I do not mean to make a mockery of his accent but then again, anything worth doing is worth doing well. If you are going to be a star to be reckoned with then be it in all ramification because people strive to emulate you.
AFTER THOUGHTS:
On another thought, are some of these artistes worthy of emulation? When their lyrical contents are laced with profanity and sexuality? How does a grown man/woman even begin to sing with lyrics that talk about selling their souls just to dine with the devil? I dare say, we are more foolish to even mime and bump our heads along songs with lame lyrics.
Edward Bulwer-Lytton once said and i quote:”Music, once admitted to the soul, becomes a sort of spirit, and never dies.”
