While thousands of Nigerian youths were chanting #ENDSARS across major cities in the nation, a man whose twitter name is Demola had quite a completely interesting plan going into yesterday’s protect in Alausa Ikeji, Lagos.
Like every other days in the last one week, protesters in their large numbers would gather at strategic locations to demonstrate against police brutality being perpetrated by operatives of the now dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a unit under the Nigerian Police Force.
Demola, his girlfriend and a few of his close pals had joined the #endsars crowd at Ikeja but Demola wasn’t only there with a placard to show his grievance against extortion, torture and murder by men of the police, on him was an engagement ring neatly tucked somewhere inside his pocket.
Expectedly, he didn’t hit his target on arrival, he bided his time, waiting for the perfect moment to bend one knee and declare those things his heart had being yearning for.
Well, that moment eventually came as Demola unveiled the ring, dropped a knee into the lawn and said ‘The Words’ and of course, She said YES! The scene drew a stir at the protest ground and the two lovebirds got many congratulations.
The #ENDSARS protest has been raging on since last week as Nigerians troops out in major cities to call for the end of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a police unit notorious for illegal arrest, extortion, torture and murder.
We earlier reported that Nigerian protesters have started trending 5for5 to push for a new demand after the government banned the Special Anti-Robbery Squad
