The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Pst. Samson Ayokunle has visited Chief Femi Fani-Kayode at his residence in Abuja. Details of the meeting are not clear but Fani-Kayode revealed that he came to discuss national issues with him.
Chief Femi Fani Kayode has been touring states across Nigeria prompting suspicions that he intends to contest for president come 2023. He dismissed such reports by maintaining that he was only visiting old friends.
The visit appears to have divided opinion on Fani-Kayode who reportedly divorced his third wife recently over domestic issues. He had attended a Christian prayer program held in Abuja to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence anniversary.
Pst. Samson Ayokunle probably went to pay a courtesy visit but the timing for the visit is what bothers many people. Like the journalist in Calabar, many people are wondering about whom is bank-rolling the former minister.
However, his increasing popularity among the elites and the respect he gets from top national figures is unprecedented in recent times. Many of his followers are left in the dark on the ex-minister’s true intentions ahead of the 2023 general election.
