The Economic and Financial crimes commission, EFCC arrested 9 suspected yahoo boys in Port Harcourt on Wednesday 26th of August 2020. This is according to a statement that was released by the anti-corruption agency.
The suspected fraudsters listed as Ebi Micah, Precious Ogadinma, Sotunye Orugbane, David Egbunugwu, Fidelis Nwambu, Emmanuel Chinemerem, Micah Nimi, Oliver Samuel, and Promise Nkwachi have been detained in the Zonal Office of the agency.
The statement shows that they were arrested during a raid in the morning at a certain hideout in Ozuoba Obirikwe Road, Choba NTA Road, and also in Ada George Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
According to information gotten from their devices, the suspected yahoo boys indulged in various types of scams. Among these scams are Dating scam, Bitcoin scam, Trading scam, and Identity theft.
Among the items recovered from the alleged were 16 mobile phones of various makes, 2 Apple watches, and 1 HP laptop and to cars. The cars include 1 Lexus ES 350 and a Toyota Camry 2.4 with car registration number KUJ 412 AT Abuja and KWL 35 AT Abuja.
As expected, EFCC’s Statement reveals that the suspected cybercriminals will be charged to court after further investigations.
