Organizers of Headies Awards not properly educated – Yung L

Rapper Yung L has blasted organizers of the Headies Awards, saying they are not well educated.

Organizers of Headies Awards not properly educated, Yung LThe rapper made reference to last year’s Headies drama which involved singer Tekno and his nomination in the Next Rated category.

According to him, Tekno should not be in that category as he is bigger than that.

Yung L vented his disappointment during a recent chat.

He said, “I don’t like talking about Nigerian awards because I just think if you are using that as a yardstick for your career you’re just going to be sad.

“It doesn’t make sense, first of all, you nominated Tekno for Next Rated category.

Organizers of Headies Awards not properly educated, Yung L“Tekno is definitely not next rated. The boy is overrated already.

“He has passed that stage so that didn’t make sense.

“I think he saw that for himself and because he didn’t want to fight with anybody he just gradually walked out.

“I respect that it’s what he wanted.

“Also if I must say I think he felt that he was bigger than the award and if they nominated him for other bigger categories, it would have made sense but next rated, no way.

“It didn’t make any sense at all.

“Organizers of the Headies need to understand what next rated is, maybe they think because of the prize that comes with it is supposed to be for certain big artistes.
“But next rated is supposed to be the person that is next rated basically, not somebody that is already gone past that level,” Yung L noted.

The 29-year-old breaking record rapper was born Christopher Omenye and is originally from Anambra State.

I really do wish all artists could vent their concerns on such issues.

Sometimes, the issues are not only an embarrassment, they are not to be heard of. What’s your take on this?

Hope they will do better next season.
