‘Yeye dey smell’ – Nigerians slam Government over ban on Olamide, Davido, 9ice’s songs [SEE LIST]

In what some described as ‘bizzy body’, ‘yeye dey smell’, concerned Nigerians have reacted to Government’s ban on songs by popular music stars, Olamide, Davido, 9ice. The National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC, is currently making news headlines for placing a ban on five Nigerian songs. Nigerians slam Government over ban on Olamide, Davido, 9ice’s songs.

According to the NBC, the songs are “Not to be Broadcasted.” The banned songs include Olamide‘s “Wo” and “Wavy Level“; Davido‘s “Fall” and “If (Remix)“; and 9ice’s “Living Things.”

This disclosure was made known by the corporation on Tuesday, hinting that it has banned the 5 songs from being aired across the Nigerian airwaves.

Although it is yet to be ascertained why the songs of the two other musicians’ songs were banned, the Federal Ministry of Health had in a tweet on Friday said that the video to Olamide’s “Wo” violated the Tobacco Control Act 2015.

NAIJA.FM had reported that the Federal Ministry of Health warned Nigerians against Olamide’s new song ‘Wo!’ According to the Ministry, Olamide’s latest song, which is the latest Nigerian hit song, shot in Bariga, is a danger to the public. The ministry revealed on its Twitter account that ‘Wo’ which featured a line were Olamide mentions cigarettes contravenes Nigeria’s laws on Tobacco advertising, promotion & sponsorship. Meanwhile, this is not the first time that a song by the 28-year-old rapper, Olamide, who is signed to his own record label, YBNL, will be banned by the Nigerian regulatory body.

Recall that in 2016, just a few months after the ban of one of his songs ‘Shakiti Bobo’, NBC also banned, ‘Don’t Stop’ which is a track off Olamide’s 5th studio album, Eyan Mayweather, for its vulgar lyrics.
