#NECLive5: I’m one of the reasons 2face’ protest failed – Basketmouth confesses

So much has gone down with the much publicized Nigerian Entertainment Conference held in Lagos. NECLive5, I am one of the reasons 2face’ protest failed, Basketmouth.

Popular actress, Tonto Dikeh, stand up comedian, Basketmouth and ace singer, Daddy Showkey discussed the world needing African entertainment.

Although, Tonto was unavoidably absent.

In her absence, Basketmouth was joined by Daddy Showkey, Akin Shuga and Dolapao Oni-Sijuade at the session.

The celebrities who came on stage at Landmark event centre debated ‘Why the rest of the World Needs African Entertainment’.

City FM boss Doja Allen, Firstbank official, Yinka Ijabiyi were also part of the session.

Media personality and actress, Dolapo Oni moderated the session.

Below are highlights from session with Basketmouth.

In his speech, the popular rib cracker said:

“Talent is the only resource that does not run dry.

“You cannot take your culture to the western world, you can only take your originality.

“We need to put more structures in place to drive the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

“You don’t need a Godfather to make it in the industry.

“If you want to succeed in the industry, dive into it because you love it.

“2face’s protest failed because entertainers backed out, I’m also guilty,” Basketmouth said.

Recall that 2face had planned a February 5 nationwide protest against Nigeria’s Federal Government.

He rescheduled the protest and later cancelled it due to security issues.

The ‘African Queen’ crooner revealed some politicians were trying to thwart the aim of the rally.

While all these were going on, some top celebrities drummed support and vowed to be a part of the protest.

Basketmouth was nowhere to be found. Well, he has just confessed he is guilty.

I do hope these guys will see strength in unity and cooperation going forward.
