Nigerian singer, Mr 2Kay, has filed a N500M lawsuit against the management of Eko Hotel and Suites over a recent robbery incident. Mr 2Kay sues Eko hotel.
The robbery incident reportedly happened at gunpoint in his hotel room at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos State. It would be recalled that on October 22, 2017, Mr. 2kay was robbed and assaulted in his hotel room at about 11pm after the Buckwyld and Breathless concert where he also performed.
Mr 2Kay sues Eko hotel
According to the singer’s manager, Grafton, the robbers, numbering four, gained access into Mr 2Kay’s room after he mistook one of them for the hotel attendants. They were said to have forced their way into his room and waved a gun with threats to shoot him if he made a noise. The singer was in the room with a friend. When the robbers gained access into his room, he reportedly struggled with one of the robbers, as the others punched and hit him with a gun, repeatedly warning that they will shoot if he doesn’t calm down.
One of the robbers led and locked 2Kay’s friend in the bathroom, while the others tied the singer’s arms, legs and mouth and took his valuables including jewelry, clothes, perfumes, phones, and money. They also cut the room’s intercom (phone) to avoid any form of communication as they left the hotel.
Following this, Mr. 2Kay’s management has said Eko Hotel has to pay for all the items the singer lost, hospital bill and other damages. According to Mr. 2kay’s manager, there is no way Eko Hotel and Suites are going to let this sleep under the rug.
But the Duty Manager of the Eko Hotels & Suites who gave her name as just Funmi said the incident is now a matter of the Nigerian police.
“Since yesterday, the police and the security officials of the hotel have been working round the clock to investigate what really happened,” she said.
When asked if should give more information, she said it’s a security issue and so nothing would be said until the end of the investigation.
