The estranged husband of Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe – Gentry has shared his experience in Kirikiri prison hours after his release. Lanre Gentry was remanded in prison custody after failing to meet his bail conditions. This came after he was arraigned before an Ogba Magistrate court on a three count charge offence bordering on breach of public peace, assault and causing grievous bodily harm on his wife. Mercy Aigbe’s hubby, Lanre Gentry blasts Government hours after he was released from Kirikiri prison.
Their seven-year-old marriage crashed after photos of Mercy’s battered face went viral on the Internet. She accused her husband of physical assault which has been going on for quite a long time and which affected her sight and caused her to bleed internally from the physical abuse allegedly melted down to her on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
Gentry has obviously met his bail conditions, hence his release. However, hours after he regained freedom, he took to his Instagram page to share his experience.

Here’s what he wrote: “Like I have said earlier, I have something to tell the world due to my fresh experience at the medium prison,(kirikirii apapa). But firstly I’ll like to glorify the Almighty God for his grace upon my life…..at this moment I would say @realmercyaigbe’s effort sending me to jail was another privilege to see, say about all which is going on over there. I think this place should be a rehabilitation centre and not a dumping ground, 7 days and 7night at d medium prison looks like have spent a whole year inn there, why? Just because our government has a lot to do over there and nothing has been done over there…over 3600 prisoners, where we are meant to have just 1500 prisoners.”
“Prisoners are now more or less like beggars. I have been there not that I am being told people die every blessed day. So, I am here to tell the world to please let’s fight this out with our government because I see no reason why tax are being collected and nothing has been produced and provided through all this payment. Is it that they’ve forgotten this people are still Nigerian citizens? If I may ask? Government shouldn’t leave what they ought to do and start involving themselves over (domestic violence)…I won’t say more than this tonight..but more to come every night. I mean no harm to no one but to whom it may concern.”
Meanwhile, his post has gotten some reactions from some of his followers . Many are of the opinion that he just“
agreed” and “admitted” that his wife suffered from domestic violence. I’m equally sure he feels no remorse. To think that someone will come out of prison and pens all these? It’s quite hilarious. Sounds like a joke to me.
