There is an ongoing gist that the one year relationship between Mavin CEO, Michael Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy, and singer, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, better known by his stage name, Iyanya, has reportedly gone sour. Iyanya, Don Jazzy’s relationship.
According to LIB, all is certainly not well between the duo. Although efforts to get comments from both camps have not yielded any results, there are alleged visible cracks in the relationship between the duo and according to reliable inside sources, ‘they are both fed up with the arrangement’.
Iyanya, Don Jazzy’s relationship
Iyanya, who is also signed with Temple Company was treated to a soiree by close friends when he clocked 31 on Tuesday, October 31.
The close-knitted event held at Crust and Cream, Victoria Island Lagos, and noticeably, Mavin Records and its representatives were missing at the gathering.
Also, Iyanya’s birthday went unnoticed by the label as it’s their custom via social media. A quick look at Mavin Records official social media platforms did not show any recognition of the singer’s birthday apart from a late post from Don Jazzy.
Another inside source revealed to LIB that;
“The record label has not had a particularly great year. Most of the Mavin output has been poor apart from perhaps Tiwa Savage, Reekado and Johnny Drille.”
This comes barely one year after Iyanya was unveiled as a Mavin record artiste but the last few months has seen the relationship between both parties deteriorate terribly and it’s not getting better.
Recall that Iyanya’s relationship with Mavin was confirmed by Don Jazzy on October 31, 2016 via an Instagram post and on Twitter.
The post read:
“SMD is pleased to welcome @Iyanya to the Mavin Family. Pls join us to welcome him & let the world know that we #Up2Sumting. #MavinActivatedpic.twitter.com/I2lnIeo8Sf. ITS DONJAZZY AGAIN (@DONJAZZY).”
While we await confirmation from both parties, we do hope this is not going to lead to Iyanya abandoning the label. Someone asked, “Don’t they ‘agree’ before coming to work together’?” Anyway, our fingers are crossed and eyes fixed on the Internet.
