It’s been seven years since the Nigerian music industry lost rapper Dagrin to the cold hands of death.
Dagrin died on April 22, 2010 at a very young age of 22.
It’s exactly seven years today and YBNL boss, Olamide says he never met him.
No doubt artistes like Olamide, Reminisce and others are some of the best examples of Dagrin’s influence on the Nigerian rap scene.
Though he lived a short life, his style of rap is still influencing the music scene.
His influence on Nigerian Hip-hop will never be forgotten.

In an interview with Olisa Adibua on talk show, ‘The Truth’, the rapper disclosed that he never met the late Dagrin.
Olamide said, “I never met him. Yes, I never met him at all.”
Even without a direct physical encounter, Olamide admits that Dagrin was instrumental as a forerunner of indigenous music.
Olamide said Dagrin paved the way for the younger generation of rappers to prosper.
He said, “Actually he did. He paved way for people like me, as well as Lord of Ajasa, Idris Abdulkareem, the likes of AY, Junior & Pretty.
“It’s a movement, it has to keep going on.

“Every now and then, every new set of artistes that come out, they have to pave the way for a new generation,” Olamide added.
He gave up the ghost at exactly 6 pm on Thursday, April 22, at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, LUTH.
Dagrin was an award-winning Nigerian rapper from Ogun State.
His songs touch upon ethnicity, pride, while surviving the streets of Lagos and a hint of criticism elderly people hurls against bad behaviour.
After his death in 2010, a film of his life entitled ‘Ghetto Dreamz’ was released in April 2011.
He died after a vehicle accident in Lagos State.
