Russia will become the first country to shoot a movie in space after the country announced plans to send actors and a director to Space.

The European country will send an actress to the international space station in October 2021.

35-year-old Yulia Peresild will star in the movie and it will be shot and directed by Klim Shipenko in space.

The movie titled “Vyzov” (“The Challenge”) will tell the story of a surgeon who will operate on a sick sick cosmonaut in space.

The country’s space agency, Roscosmos opened an audition for interested applicants in November and the duo were selected.

Selected actress Yulia Peresild has appeared in several Russian films and tv series.

A US team of actor Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman also revealed plans to shoot a space movie in 2020.

The date for the movie is yet to be stated but it is being developed in conjunction with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
