The crypto world is a dangerous place for newbies. There are lots of ways to lose your money and one of them is through scams.

An English woman from Brighton was the victim of one of these scams on social media.
Julia Bushnell felt embarrassed after losing £9,000 (6 million Naira) to a Bitcoin scam.

The scammers impersonated Elon Musk by offering to double any money that people offered in a giveaway.
The scammers also cloned the BBC website to post news about the cryptocurrency giveaway.

Bushnell paid £9,000 which she had been saving a deposit for a new home.
When she waited for hours and nothing came back, she realized that she had been scammed.
The crime was reported to the Sussex police station but the teacher has been unable to recover her funds.

Research by crypto platform, Whale Alert has revealed that 5,600 have lost a total of $18 million to giveaway scams in the first 3 months of 2021.
This is more than half the number of people that lost money in the whole of 2020 (10,500).
