Andrew Cuomo the governor of New York City has made a shocking decision to resign from his role.

The governor had been forced to take a step back after a report found that he sexually assaulted several women.
While speaking he said “The best way I can help now is if I step aside,” but he continued to maintain his innocence.
Cuomo’s resignation will take effect from 14 days after which he will be replaced by Lt Governor Kathy Hochul.

Hochul will become the first woman to lead the state of New York as a governor.
Just a year ago, everything was going smoothly for the governor and he was a favourite among New York residents.
However, following the scandal, he was pressured by top officials such as the President of the United States Joe Biden to resign.
Sexual Allegations Levelled Against the Governor
An investigation launched by the office of the Attorney General of New York found that Andrew Cuomo has harassed 11 women, staff included.
The governor was accused of making inappropriate comments to some women, he allegedly groped some and even kissed some women without consent.

Before his resignation, New York Democrats had begun proceedings to impeach him and he is currently still facing charges of sexual harassment.
