The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has lifted a ban that prevents green card applicants from entering the country.

The ban prevented legal immigrants from coming into the US from other countries.
Since becoming the President, Biden has reversed many of Trump’s immigration policies, while issuing his own.
On lifting the ban, President Biden claimed that the ban was counterproductive as it prevented family members of United State citizens from joining their family in the country.
Biden also claimed that the green card ban prevents industries in the US from utilizing talents from other countries.

The ban was issued by Donald Trump in April last year to protect US jobs due to the high employment rate caused by the pandemic.

It prevented people from obtaining green cards to move to the US legally from other countries. The ban was set to last till the end of March 2021.
Biden began reversing Trump’s policies on immigration since his first day in office, 20th January 2021.
Biden’s first order was to lift the ban on 13 African and Muslim-majority countries.
